We use as many organic, natural, and locally sourced materials as possible.
All goods are made with a Farm-to-Hanger mentality, which informs the brand's aesthetic and influences the material choices and construction methods.
Each piece is one of a kind (or part of a very limited edition) and can involve scrupulous handiwork (stitching, felting, etc), hand-painted patterns, and other sculptural and unexpected details. Due to the handmade nature of all STATE’s products, subtle variations and irregularities (we think they’re charming) are possible in all products.
All of STATE's materials are sourced within the United States, and our collections are a reflection of American resourcefulness: Cotton from North Carolina, alpaca from an island in Washington, deconstructed vintage from Brooklyn … it all has a story.

Use this handy diagram to see how the smocks are sized.
Since they're made from deconstructed men's button down shirts, the sizing varies from smock to smock. They're meant to fit loosely.
Front Length: measurement from shoulder seam to longest point of front hem
Back Length: from shoulder seam to longest point on back hem
Width: measurement from side seam to side seam on one side. Double this for entire width of smock
STATE offers refunds/exchanges within 5 days of receipt for unused, unworn items (except for underwear or britches) with their original tags and/or packaging. Postage costs are not refundable. After 5 days, all sales are FINAL.
To begin the return process, please email sales(@)statethelabel.com and indicate the reason you wish to return the item. You are responsible for any return shipping costs. For international shipments, STATE is not responsible for duty reimbursement.
Refunds will be issued using the same method through which you purchased (credit card or paypal). We will process your return as soon as possible, but please allow up to 14 days for your refund to be processed and up to two billing cycles for the return to appear on your credit card statement.
STATE has the right to deny refunds if the merchandise returned does not meet our return policy requirements.
Items are shipped via the USPS. Contact us if you’d like to arrange an alternative shipping solution. STATE is not responsible for unexpected shipping delays caused by circumstances such as severe weather, natural disasters, or other courier delays.
For International orders message us with any special delivery requests. Please note, STATE is not responsible for payment of any duty or import fees.
